The Highway Code establishes that using main beam headlights in a way that causes dazzling to other road users constitutes a very serious contravention. This conduct is considered highly dangerous, as it can temporarily remove visibility from drivers travelling in the opposite direction or in front of us, drastically increasing the risk of collision. For this reason, this infraction is not classified as minor or serious, but is directly framed in the category of very serious contraventions, given the severe consequences that momentary loss of visibility can have on road safety.
