The driver of a heavy passenger vehicle falls into the group of drivers subject to a special safety regime. For these drivers, the maximum permitted blood alcohol level is lower, and they are considered under the influence of alcohol with a level equal to or greater than 0.2 g/l. The 0.5 g/l limit is the general limit applicable to most drivers of light vehicles and motorcycles who are not under a special regime or in a probationary period. The 0.3 g/l limit does not correspond to any legal limit established for the definition of driving under the influence of alcohol in the Highway Code.
