Priority vehicles, when adequately signaling their urgent movement through light or sound signals, have priority of passage over other road users. This special priority rule prevails even when these vehicles leave a private road. For this reason, the driver must stop and give way to the ambulance, not being able to proceed just because it is leaving a private road. The obligation to give way arises from the status of a priority vehicle in urgent service and not from the general rule of priority to the right.
