When encountering a closed level crossing, especially in conditions of reduced visibility or at night, we must stop the vehicle and turn on the parking lights. This measure serves to signal the vehicle's presence without dazzling drivers coming from the opposite direction who are also waiting for the level crossing to open. Hazard lights are intended to signal situations of imminent danger, breakdown, or sudden stop, and are not suitable for a normal and regulated stop at a closed level crossing. In turn, high beam headlights would cause severe dazzling to drivers coming from the opposite direction, making their use completely incorrect in this stopping situation.
