Checking the coolant level is a simple and preventive maintenance task that should be performed regularly by the vehicle's user. This check is done visually through the expansion tank, allowing the detection of any leaks or abnormal consumption before the engine overheats. It is not necessary to go to a specialized workshop just to check the fluid level, as it is a basic procedure. Additionally, performing this check at the end of each journey is incorrect and dangerous, as the engine and cooling system are very hot and under high pressure, posing a serious risk of burns if the reservoir is opened.
