In narrow passages where vehicles cannot pass without reversing, the general rule states that the driver of the vehicle closer to a place where passing is viable should reverse. As we are right at the entrance of the narrow passage, we are closer to the place where it is possible to facilitate passage, and therefore we should reverse. The priority rules based on vehicle category, which determine that light vehicles should reverse for heavy vehicles, only apply when both vehicles are at the same distance from a place where passing is possible. Since the distances are not equal in this case, vehicle category is not the criterion to adopt.
