The general rule for driving dictates that traffic must proceed on the right side of the carriageway. However, it is permitted to use the left side to perform authorized maneuvers, such as overtaking, provided that horizontal signaling allows it and the necessary safety conditions are met. Normal driving should always be done as close as possible to the right edge of the carriageway, so the left cannot be used just for driving. Similarly, it is not correct to state that the left side can never be used, as overtaking is an exception provided for by law.
